Fab Forecast: Our Top Upcoming Trends of 2023

When it comes to the heart of any home - the kitchen - one thing will never go out of style: cabinetry. For years, cabinets have been a cornerstone of kitchen design, both aesthetically and functionally. Not only do they determine how much storage space you have available, but they also add to the overall look and feel of the room.

As we begin the new year, we are excited to see what is in store for kitchen cabinetry design in 2023. From mixed materials to stained glass panels, there is so much to be inspired by.

Follow Miriam Johnson, the Cabinet Chic as she reveals the top upcoming cabinetry trends for 2023!

Design Notes:

  • Dark-stained wood is trending, a departure from the lighter tones of previous years.
  • Unique hardware can help you refresh your space, even if you aren’t ready for a full remodel…yet.
  • 2023 is the year to go bold, whether with two-toned cabinetry or bright colors.

What’s In Store for 2023?

We always feel a refreshed sense of inspiration as a new year begins, and we are especially inspired to see what cabinet design trends are on the horizon for this year.

Here’s what to expect this year:

  • Dark Stained Wood
  • Two-Toned Cabinetry
  • Stained Glass Panels
  • Unique Hardware
  • Traditional Details
  • Natural Finishes
  • Bold Colors
  • Warm Accents

Let’s take a closer look at each!

Dark Wood Tones

In 2023 we will see a return to dark-stained wood cabinetry in the kitchen. In recent years, lighter tones like birch and white oak have been in vogue, but homeowners are now trending to deeper wood stains to lend a cozy, traditional vibe to their homes.

Plus, choosing to go dark allows the natural details of the wood to shine, giving your custom cabinetry a beautiful finish.

Two-Toned Cabinetry

Don’t be afraid to use more than one color in your cabinetry. This year, try something a little unique with two-toned cabinets!

Choosing two colors can allow you to put your unique mark on your space.

While black and white are a classic combination, consider trying:

  • Blue and white
  • Dark green and white
  • Grey and white
  • Stained wood and white
  • Or any other complementing color combo!

Stained Glass Panels

Stained glass cabinet fronts were once a very popular choice, but they fell out of favor over the years. They are making a comeback in 2023 as homeowners seek to add a touch of elegance and uniqueness to their kitchens.

The best part? Your stained glass panels can match your design style. Have a mid-century modern home? Great! Consider a Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass pattern. Or perhaps you want something more earthy or natural, you could have vines, leaves, or other natural elements included in your stained glass panels. Or if you want something more traditional, choose clear beveled glass with small accents of color. Nice!

Unique Hardware

We love how the hardware on your cabinetry can truly change the overall look. This year, unique cabinetry hardware will be popular, allowing homeowners to personalize their kitchens and create even more of a statement piece.

When choosing unique hardware:

  • Don’t be afraid to mix materials. It’s so chic to use one on the perimeter & another for the island
  • Consider unique shapes and designs
  • Go for color
  • Choose natural materials like wood or rock
  • Look for vintage pieces to add more charm

Traditional Touches

Traditional touches are making a comeback this year. Does this style ever go out of style anyways?

Unlike the traditional style kitchens from the past, newer designs are infused with ample light from windows and a mix of light and dark finishes resulting in a bright and personal space.

Natural Finishes

Choosing to use stained wood cabinetry creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Here at C & C Cabinets, we are all about emphasizing the unique character of wood!

Cabinet Chic Tip: The look of natural wood on panel-ready appliances can add sophistication to your space when paired with other materials like a stone island or patterned tile flooring. Très chic!

Bold Colors

Get ready for an infusion of bold color in 2023! Believe it or not, bright yellows and reds are becoming popular as look to go bold in their home design.

Don’t worry, if this trend is too much for you, you can go bold with bright accent cabinets, paint the backsplash, or even add a fun colorful wallpaper to accent the room.

Warm Accents

Having a space where guests feel comfortable and relaxed when you entertain is crucial and using warm colors and different textures can create a welcoming space within your kitchen.

This warmth can be achieved by:

  • Using wood tones
  • Incorporating old-fashioned copper or gold finish hardware
  • Iinfusing the space with metal pendants, fixtures, or copper pans.
